Concept
For this project, I decided to write and gather stories of my time with Asian American InterVarsity at my university—my family away from home. The stories were written by myself and some of my friends in AAIV. They recount moments and adventures that helped to define who I've become as an individual. The body text is complimented by photos and illustrations that help to tell the story. The illustrations depict an object that was involved in each of the stories. I wanted to include these sketched objects to give the newspaper a scrapbook or journal-like aesthetic to compliment the newspaper's narrative function.
